-Colaborative work between artist Edgar Arceneaux and Nery Gabriel Lemus
It is not sufficient enough to locate the similarities and differences between cultures, herein being that of the Latino and Black, to begin to mend ties. Within this collaboration, the artists seek to illustrate the complexity that accompanies the notion of identity. As the two video projections interact in the mirror, they share the same space and absorb each other as they ricochet to adjacent walls. The impetus in this work is to try to absorb the collateral- the moment of contact that servers as a reminder of an unfixed notion of identity. Through interaction we realize that despite apparent cultural differences, we acclimate to and in some instances adopt cultures.(The piece is the combination of two previous videos by the artists; Edgar Arceneaux- Dinner at Anna's/ Nery Gabriel Lemus- Proclammation of the Lined-up Fade)
